Automatic notifications

* Indicates that the Corresponding Editor is automatically copied into a reminder email. This can be used as a prompt to follow-up with authors or reviewers (e.g. with an Ad hoc email) or to change a due date

Editors

Editorial Manager sends automatic notifications when certain events occur in the system. These notifications are set at role level: all Managing Editors will automatically receive the same notifications, for their Section/Category. 

Managing Editors will receive notifications for the following events:

  • New or revised submission received
  • Error building PDF
  • Editor declines assignment
  • Editor suggests reviewers
  • Peer review comments complete
  • Editorial task complete

If you assign an Editor to a particular review, using Assign Editor, this person will receive all notifications related to this review.

If you would like to change your notification settings in EM, please contact Cochrane Support

Authors

Authors receive automatic notifications related to actions in the system. The following actions will trigger an email to authors:

  • New or revised submission received - confirmation of manuscript number
  • Co-author requests confirmation of author status
  • Change of due date for new or revised submission*

Reviewers

Reviewers receive automatic notifications related to actions in the system. The following actions will trigger an email to reviewers:

  • Reviewer agrees to or declines invitation - confirmation of decision
  • Reviewer uninvited if invitation not accepted or declined within 7 days
  • Change of due date for reviewer comments*
  • Thank you for completed review

Automatic reminders

Editorial Manager sends automatic reminders to authors and reviewers related to invitations, assignments and tasks. These notifications are set at Network level. If you would like to configure additional reminders for your Section/Category, please contact Cochrane Support

Authors

Automatic reminders will be sent to authors at the following timepoints:

Invitation

  • Invitation not accepted or declined - 3 days before, day of, 3 days after invitation response date

Submissions and revisions

  • Before protocol submission due - 45, 28, 7 days before due date
  • Before review submission due - 180, 28, 7 days before due date
  • Before protocol revision due - 45, 7 days before due date
  • Before review revision due - 30, 7 days before due date
  • After submission or revision due - 7, 14, 28 days after due date* (see overdue reminders to authors)

Reviewers

Automatic reminders will be sent to reviewers at the following timepoints:

Invitation

  • Invitation not accepted or declined - 4 days before invitation response date

Reviews and comments

  • Partially saved comments - 2 days after partial save*
  • Before comments due - 7, 1 days before due date
  • After comments due due - 3, 7 days after due date

Overdue reminders to authors

3. Click on "Submit Invited Manuscript" and submit your article as instructed.

NOTE: As the person who receives and accepts this invitation to submit, you are the official designated corresponding author.
