Assign Editor

This guidance is for editors assigning submissions within Cochrane Central Editorial Service.

Assigning an editor means you are assigning a person to manage the next stage of the editorial process (e.g. invite reviewers, make decisions). You can assign yourself as an editor.

Assign an editor

  • Use the Assign Editor option on the Action menu to select an editor for a submission.
  • Select the name or role of the editor you wish to assign.
  • Choose to send default or custom assignment letter.

Change Corresponding Editor

By default, the first editor assigned to a submission will be the Corresponding Editor. To change this, you first need to assign another editor.

  • Follow the instructions above to Assign Editor. Do not unassign the first editor.
  • When the second editor is assigned, go to the Manuscript Details.
  • Select the correct Corresponding Editor from the dropdown field and Save.
  • The first editor can then be unassigned if needed.

Blocked editors

If a member of your editorial team is also an author on a submission, you can exclude this person from the editorial process.

  • Open Details
  • Open Blocked Editors link > OK
  • Search for the person by name > Submit
