The workflow for translation production and publication is as follows:

  1. Each time a Review version is first published (including new, updated and amended Reviews), an English source file is created automatically based on a given Review, and sent to Memsource for all languages with an active translation projects.

  2. Translation teams select Reviews for translation and complete translations in Memsource.

  3. Completed translations are automatically sent from Memsource to Archie. After successful validation in Archie, translations are automatically published in the Cochrane Library within a few hours, and on cochrane.org the following day.

Translations and Review updates

Updated and amended Reviews

When an existing Review is re-published, an updated version of the English source file is sent to Memsource. The previous version is deleted on Memsource. Existing translations are marked as outdated in Archie, and are archived with the previous Review version on the Cochrane Library. They remain published on cochrane.org, but with a note that they are not up-to-date anymore and with a link to the most recent English Review. Exception: If the translated sections of a new Review version have not changed, Archie re-publishes existing translations as a new version automatically.

Withdrawn Reviews

When a Review is withdrawn, the English source file is deleted from Memsource. Existing translations are marked as outdated in Archie, and are archived with the previous Review version on the Cochrane Library. They are marked as withdrawn on cochrane.org.

Sending specific Reviews to Memsource

Memsource includes Reviews published in the past 12 months. Translation Managers can send individual Reviews to Memsource manually, if they wish to translate Reviews published previously.

  1. Find the desired Review in Archie via Document search.

  2. Right-click on the Review, select Translate into, and then your language. The Review should be added to Memsource within a few minutes.
